Crypto super-PAC Fairshake has $116m as it targets 2026 midterms

Fairshake, the cryptocurrency-focused super political action committee that played a key role in electing pro-crypto candidates in the last United States election, has more than $116 million set aside for the 2026 midterms.

After making a significant impact during the 2024 election, the crypto-backed committee has touted its substantial war chest as it prepares for the next election cycle.

Reports from January 30 indicate that Fairshake has received $116 million in contributions from major cryptocurrency industry players ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

Coinbase, Ripple and a16z pledge millions

According to a report by CNBC, Fairshake has secured donations from U.S.-based crypto exchange Coinbase, XRP creator Ripple and Silicon Valley venture capital giant Andreessen Horowitz.

Each company has pledged more than $20 million to the committee. Crypto-focused venture capital firm Jump Crypto has also committed funds. Fairshake plans to use these contributions to support crypto-friendly candidates in key congressional races during the midterms.

In the last election, the super-PAC raised over $200 million. Part of the donations went towards supporting crypto-friendly Bernie Moreno against the then Ohio senator Sherrod Brown. Moreno’s campaign received $12 million from Fairshake, a contribution that helped mount a successful campaign against the Democrat. Brown’s loss was one of the biggest victories for crypto.

In 2024, Coinbase contributed over $75 million to the super PAC and affiliated committees. Reports say the exchange has committed $25 million to the midterm elections. Meanwhile, Ripple has committed $20 million, having shelled $50 million in 2024.

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse said in December that U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s negative approach to crypto is what pushed industry players to create Fairshake.

a16z, on its part, plans to donate $23 million, adding to the over $70 million donated across several election cycles.

Fairshake’s latest donations also include support from Uniswap Labs and Robert Leshner, the founder of Superstate.
