Donald Trump has already made plenty of confusing comments in response to the death of Senator Lindsey Graham, so it’s probably no big surprise that his memorial speech went the way it did.
In the Daily Show clip above, host Jordan Klepper breaks down some of the most memorable moments, starting with the president saying: “Virtually everyone, Republican or Democrat, liked Lindsey. Well, not everybody, but it sounds good.”
“I can’t believe I have to say this to Donald Trump, but can you just lie to us?” says Klepper. “It’s a memorial, you could paint a rosier picture. I didn’t go to my Uncle Lou’s funeral and tell everyone he was the Zodiac Killer, I said he was good with numbers.”
Klepper then plays a clip of Trump describing how he shared Graham’s personal cell phone number back in 2016 when the two were feuding.
“OK, interesting choice,” says Klepper. “I might have chosen a moment that highlights Lindsey’s character, but I guess the time he got 10,000 calls from guys named Mike Roch and Hugh Jazz is also equally good.”
